I don’t know how to say this in a gentle, kind way so here it is; our year has filled up awfully fast. We have about 1 or 2 weekends between now and the end of the year that aren’t totally full. Right now we are looking at about a million weddings this summer and fall, all of which I’m very excited about but the other night I’ve decided that we have to start triaging our life. Immediate family will come first, work will come second, friends and extended family will come third. When it comes to a battle within our triage system, we’ll have to assess our current relationship with those people taking into account our past relationship and guessing our future relationship.
Right now I am mostly struggling with what to do about two of the out of state weddings on my schedule. I almost have the desire to call those people up and say, “Are you ever going to come visit me at my home?” or “Will I ever really see you again after your wedding?” or “Would you rather I just send a gift?” I’m sure that many of the people I invited to our wedding went through the same kind of criteria that I’m looking at. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: Triage Relationships

Ive ran into this a lot, and you feel terrible not being able to come, and regret putting NO on the invite, but I suppose you could always ask youself, did they come to your wedding? If you didnt know them at that time, I suppose that cant really apply, but... Im sure people understand, unless your a HUGE part of their wedding (as in... are IN it...). I mean seriously, do people REALLY send invites to outta stater's with the thought that they would really come... in today's economy? I dont know, just my opinion of course. But, the day I get married, I expect you to be there. HAHAHHA JUST KIDDING.
