I need to vent. Yes, this is going to be a post full of fury and negativity. Please stop reading if you will use this to judge me in any fashion other than to know that I am hurt and feel disappointed.
For a long time I’ve wanted to work for a particular dot com company. Yay! Lucky me! With my college degree and the 9 years of experience I’ve gained since high school, I got the job! I’ve worked there since April and I love the company! I love our purpose and innovation. Purpose and innovation don’t make for a perfect situation though. Coming from a not for profit background, I’ve been shocked (sometimes pleasantly) at the way things in the ... Read More »

I’ve watched a lot of movies lately. I cannot even name all of the movies that I’ve seen in the past few weeks. We used to subscribe to the Blockbuster movie service that mails DVD’s to your home and allows you to take them to the store to exchange for a new set. This summer we sat on the same 3 DVDs for about 5 months. Then, we discovered Red Box.

Red Box charges $1 per DVD per night and can be rented or returned at over 10,000 locations nationwide. This means that when we travel, I can rent a few DVD’s at McDonalds down the street and then return it in another stat ... Read More »

Last night, my BFF asked me if I had ever truly been happy. I didn’t have to think very long because I had just had the same conversation with my husband. I even pinpointed the exact time frame that I became unhappy or "less happy".

Her question didn’t end there. She wanted to know if I felt that I felt I wasn’t judgmental of others during that time. That question also only took a few seconds to answer. The answer was yes! Yes, when I was happier I didn’t even think negatively about other people or really care what they were up to. I was more interested in trying to help them and care ABOUT them. I’ve always been told that when people treat you poorly it’s more of a reflection about how they are feeling about them ... Read More »

Bare Minerals Tutorials - Lesson 1: Smoky Eye

After visiting Sephora several times the past few months, I finally decided to break down and buy the kit that contained the materials necessary to replicate the look they've given me for special functions. This kit comes with the two colors and special bush needed to look amazing!

Not only do I have the materials, but within the kit is a tip card that teaches two techniques for that amazing smoky eye look seen on stars like Angelina Jolie.

This afternoon, one of my friends, Corn Dog and I had a nice time drinking mint tea and passion tea from my glass tea pot. I think that everyone needs a glass tea pot. For some reason I become obsessed with owning one last year and I finally picked one up at an antique store at the Orange Circle in California. It’s not actually an antique but I love it. Until today I’ve never used it and I’m so happy I finally did!

It was so relaxing to just sit there at the kitchen table and catch up on life.

Drunk Dialin’ Momma and I had a girls night out tonight and it was wonderful! We started off at Von Maur looking at fun shoes and then made our way to the nail salon where we enjoyed the DELUXX spa pedi/mani. Since I’d recently had my nails manicured, I sat under the drying lamps for a long time reading smut magazines; People, Midwest Living, Cosmo, Style and an old fav, Seventeen! Once DD Momma joined me, we rated outfits and accessories and went on a dream shopping trip through the pages.

Next we stopped by Sephora and had our eyes done up Smokey Eye style by a team of professionals. I think I found a new ... Read More »

I had such a great time last night! We started off at DD Momma's house and ate all of her yummy snacks and drank her wine AND sparkling grape juice. Her daughter Ballerina Bear took all of our photos for he evening. The point of view of a 4 year old is hilarious -- it's all crotches and butts! DDMomma had purchased a value pack of party poppers and firecrackers so we all went outside for the big show!

The firecrackers would not light! She lit the strings and they would burn down and do nothing! After trying about a dozen and exclaiming out loud, "Why are all of these duds!" I was the only one remaining for the show (It was 17 degrees so they all went back inside). DDMomma and I read the directions on one of them and then learned that the Value Pack of f ... Read More »

While camping a few months ago, one of my oldest and best friends said, "Dude, (yes, she said "Dude") we should all hike to the bottom on the Grand Canyon!"

Of course we all said, "Yeah! That would be awesome/fun/great/amazing/insert silly, outdated adjective."

I don't know why we said that, we had no idea, no realm of comparison. Personally, I've SEEN the Grand Canyon AND I've walked a bit down a trail. In fact, I think I stepped in GC donkey crap. Well, we said it and we're doing it. Some people say they "attempt" it. We're too deep in for it to be an attempt at this point.

My entire Christmas weekend was spent washing dishes from the family dinner we ... Read More »

You may notice that this is now a skeleton of what the site normally is; I assure you we'll get back to our glorious ways ASAP! I upgraded to a new server and I'm still trying to figure it all out.

Christmas was lovely here in the Neighborhood! I hosted 11 of my family and friends in our tiny home. The food was wonderful and the company was even better!

Here is something new I tried and boy was it wonderful!
